Our aim, at Jack and Pals Therapy Dogs, is to provide companionship, friendship and spread happiness to all we visit. This may be in a school, hospital, hospice, care home, nursing home, a day care centre or a business setting. We visit with our own dogs, who have been temperament assessed and then insured and registered with Jack and Pals Therapy dogs as being suitable dogs to carry the title of therapy dog.
Jack and Pal’s mission is to bring the exceptional benefits of dogs to people in different settings, through its therapy dog programs.
We focus on providing therapy dogs, free of charge, to any organisation who needs a bit of therapy.
We keep our membership cost low and all uniforms for volunteer members and canine pals is at cost. We are a not-for-profit members organisation working throughout the country. We meet regularly to share our ideas, experiences and knowledge to build our group.
Please contact us for a visit.
Jack and Pals provides insured and assessed registered therapy dogs and their handlers to visit and interact with people in various settings
All our therapy dog teams are assessed and proficient with some volunteers having extensive experience in visiting with other organisations. Their dogs are well experienced in handing out love, waggy tails and smiles.
We also work with schools and libraries to implementing our "School Pals" programme, where children read a story book to our dogs or where children listen with our dogs whilst our volunteer members read a story for pleasure. Our dogs are non-judgmental but love it when children's fluency, expression, vocabulary and confidence increase.
We can come to your school for a one off visit or arrange a regular visit from one of our volunteer members and their canine pal. Our volunteers can carry out our 'Reading with Pals' programme where we read to a small group of children, with a member of staff present, or we can listen to children read for pleasure. Our volunteers are not DBS checked . There is no charge for these visits.
Free of charge
Working life can be stressful and we recognise this whilst offering one off therapy dog visits to workplaces with our canine pals. We can schedule a visit with some of our dogs for up to 2 hours. We will organise a meet and greet session where workers can sit with our dogs and we are happy to chat whilst you receive our special therapy through wagging tails!
Donations are happily received from business visits.
If you are an activity coordinator of a care home, nursing home or residential home, or a manager of a hospital or hospice, we are happy to visit as a one off or arrange regular visits with one of our canine pals. Our volunteers would need a member of staff to accompany them during their visits for safeguarding purposes.
Free of charge
Our experienced canine pals and their volunteer members visit care and nursing homes and are accompanied by staff members at all times. We spend valuable time with each resident talking and sharing friendship and of coure our canine pals.
We enjoy visiting nursery schools, primary, secondary, colleges, universities and special schools where our dogs are experts at listening to children reading for pleasure. We also visit libraries where our volunteers read to groups of children with our canine pals, who check every word!
The workplace can be a busy environment and Jack and Pals recognise that sometimes a bit of dog therapy is needed. We are always happy to come and see you in your workplace setting. We deliver therapy in the form of a wagging tail!
